- In my early 20's I began searching into life's questions about religion and death,
- I feared death as a child. I cautiously looked at nearly every religion known to man. Because I am not a religious person, they all appeared to be too "religious" for me. But there was one common denominator with every religion, they all acknowledged a man known as Jesus. The same Jesus who walked on the Earth 2,000 years ago.
All the various religions recognize Him as "The Prophet", "The Teacher", "A master" a "good man" or healer.
But by the works that He did, the best and only description that fits Him is "The Son of God".
Everything that he did from turning water into wine, walking on water, feeding the multitudes, healing every kind of disease and loving everyone He encountered regardless of their sins, were acts of God.
Once I realized the significance of this man and his life, I focused my attention on who Jesus was and is.
His birth and life was a pivotal point in History. The word history itself explains that it is His Story.
BC-AD which translates: BC: Before Christ and AD (anno domini, or "in the year of our lord")
His birth was miraculous in that not only was He born of a virgin, His birth and details of His life were the fulfillment of hundreds of historic predictions. He was not your ordinary man in any way.
There have been many good men, teachers, prophets, masters and religious leaders.
Jesus was all of these things except one. He was not a religious leader in any sense of the word.
If you remember His story, it was the religious leaders of His day that brought false charges that led to
His predicted death. Being that He did so many miracles, couldn't He just avoid his own death?
Yes, he could have shut the whole plot down. All of His miracles were seen and touched many people of His day. But there was one miracle that he had to do that was going to affect all man kind.
Jesus had to let them put Him to death. Why? Because the greatest enemy of mankind is death.
Jesus had to overcome death. He had to do something that no one in history had ever done.
So what did He do?
He raised himself from the dead.
Not only did He raise Himself from the dead, but He can also raise anyone from the dead.
" that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your
heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
We are told that salvation does not come by being a good person, doing good works, keeping the law, giving money, attending services or having potlucks.
Salvation is only by believing that Jesus is the Son of God and died for your sins.
Once you believe, God will help you the rest of the way.
